Review - uOpen’s subscription “The Mother & Baby Book Box”

Research suggests that children who are read to from a young age will have a much broader vocabulary, as well as other benefits, than those who aren’t. For this reason, along with the fact that my children love books, we read a bedtime story or two every night and encourage the boys to explore books throughout the day too. So when uOpen contacted us to review one of their subscription book boxes we were delighted and of course agreed.

uOpen is a uk based market place for subscription boxes, they have a huge range of boxes to choose from which are conveniently delivered to your door each month. From baking to kids activities, gardening to gaming, the list is endless and each box will be filled with an abundance of wonderful surprises, giving you the chance to try products you might not have picked yourself.

The subscription box sent to us was the “The Bookshop - Mother & Baby Book Box” by the Thoughtful Book Subscription. Each box contains 5 beautifully wrapped books, suitable for little ones aged 0-3years, as well as a couple of extra goodies for mum, including a book mark and a super cute jar of hot chocolate. The perfect box for parents wanting to spend some quality time with their little ones, or if your like me and cringe at the thought of reading the favoured bedtime story for the 457374th time, so in need of a change.

When the box arrived Max was so happy and couldn’t wait to see what was inside. The red yarn made it feel extra special, like a birthday present.

Then when he got inside and each book was individually wrapped in beautiful recycled uk wrapping paper, he got even more excited.

Much to his dislike, we had to wait for Leo to wake up from his nap before the unwrapping commenced, so he sat there stroking them instead.

The wait was well worth it...

Together they unwrapped 5 fantastic books, all in genres that they love...

Usbornes "Look Inside Cars" with over 60 flaps to open, some inside each other which I've never seen before.

Adam Rubin's "Dragons Love Tacos" which came with a little dragon toy included.

Russell Punter's "The Dinosaur Who Lost His Roar" they both LOVEEEEE dinosaurs so this book was an instant hit.

Shirley Hughes "Dogger" a book I personally never would have chosen for the boys, as they usually prefer bright cartoon type books, but Max has really enjoyed this one and frequently asks for it at bedtime.

Peter Bently's "The Great Dog Bottom Swap" this one has to be my favourite out the 5, it's hilarious, rhymes and is about dogs...whats not to love!

The Bookshop - Thoughtful Book Subscription, were incredibly helpful in choosing books to our preference, we asked for books suitable for boys age 2-3 and gave them a few examples of things the boys liked, including animals, cars and dinosaurs. The "Mother & Baby Book Box" retails from £37.50 per month (depending on your subscription length) which should give you a saving on buying the books individually and the added ease of not having to source them yourself.

We have thoroughly enjoyed exploring all that "The Mother & Baby Book Box" has to offer, including our hot chocolate, and cannot wait to see what delights our next box brings.

If you would like to give one of uOpens subscription boxes a try, they have very kindly offered our readers a 10% discount code: THANKS10 which can be used on any of their products. Just enter the code at check out when you visit them at #happyshopping
